Quilt for Mila Dove.

So, this is my first official quilt I've made.  I've made some rag quilts, but never a REAL quilt.  I wish I had a little more time to spend quilting, which would have make this process seem not so long. I'm both happy and disappointed with how this turned out.  While I'm not yet finished, I'm close.

Here it is.

The front is a simple hour glass pattern.  I wanted a more uniform look.  So, I made a repeating pattern with my fabrics, rather than randomly placing the tiles.

The back is simple also.  I just used some left over blocks I had cut and pieced them together with coordinating green and purple panels.

I'm sure those skilled quilters can RIGHT away see my flaws.  I really took my time and cut all my blocks very precisely.  I pinned.  I pressed.  I thought I did everything right.  However, some of my seams didn't match.  Some blocks were a little off.  I had no one to help me with my questions, other than checking blogs.

So, I'm thinking for my first quilt, I didn't do terrible.  I just wish it were PERFECT.  Well, on to sandwiching and quilting.

I'm not the only one striving for perfection.  Our little one is practicing her name, Lilly.  I think she's doing a great job!

Slow but steady.

I've been really busy at work and so sleepy when I get home.  This quilt is taking a little longer than expected.  But, hopefully I will have it done by the time Mila Dove is here! I'm home today with my sick little lovey, so maybe I will be able to get some (more) quilting in today.

*UPDATE*

I've trimmed all the pieces and laid it all out!  Hopefully I will have the top together tonight.

P.s. Our Easter was fantastic.

Where I work.

First, here is where I do my "work."  As in, sewing.  We haven't yet finished our basement so I work down there, in an area that's framed and will SOON be my sewing room. Soon.

Now, a little bit of what I'm working on.

I found this little tutorial over at Cluck Cluck Sew.  I've been meaning to quilt a baby blanket but haven't found a pattern I'm in LOVE with... Until now.  I saw this and knew I was supposed to make this.  And our cousin is preggo so I also knew who I was supposed to make it for, little Mila Dove.  So this is what I'm doing:

(Doesn't that look like a ghost back there... Weird!)

We also had a little Easter celebration.  Nothing big. Just eggs, homemade fro-yo and ham dinner.  Those photo's will come later!

And so it begins...

So I've finally decided to take the leap and start my own blog.  After years of following everyone else... I want someone to follow me.  I like to "try out" many different hobby's, many of which I don't stick with long.  My loving, understanding, husband is supportive with all of my MANY adventures - this blog, being one.  So, welcome!!  We'll see how far this goes.

(I apologize in advance for my poor grammar and spelling.  It's just not my thing.)
